LINZ

LINZ ON THE DANUBE
About 70 km south of Český Krumlov we find LINZ, capital of the federal land of Upper Austria. The Old Town starts right by the river and offers many shops, cafés and numerous cultural monuments.

ART MUSEUM LENTOS
Works of the 19th and 20th century, by Andy Warhol, Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele among others. Special short-term exhibitions. Sezónní výstavy.

ARS ELECTRONICA CENTER
The modernist computer installation for experimenting, flight simulator for a sightseeing flight over Linz, in the Cave, 3-D worlds become reality.

CASTLE MUSEUM
Artistic and cultural history of Upper Austria from the Middle Ages to the present. Special exhibition 1st May - 29th August 2004: "The fantastic in every day culture" with experience rooms such as the Labyrinth and Science Fiction.

You can visit these and other museums in Linz with a Linz Museum Card for only 12 Euros.

Linz offers many more attractions, for instance:

BOAT TRIPS
In July and August daily from 8.30 pm, evening cruises along the Danube (lasting about 90 mins.). Return trips to Passau and Vienna.

GUIDED TOUR OF THE TOWN
With a qualified guide: from May to September, daily at 10.30 am starting from Tourist Information, for groups, anytime by arrangement.

THE PÖSTLINGBERG EXPERIENCE
By Pöstlingberg-Bahn Mountain Railway we depart for the shrine of (Wallfahrtsbasilika), with a panoramic view of Linz and towards the Alps. You can rumble through caves on the the Dragon Express of the Grottenbahn. At the half-way point there is Linz ZOO (Tiergarten) with many species of animals and the Streichelzoo where you can stroke the animals.

LINZ CITY EXPRESS
25-minute round trip through the town on a yellow sightseeing train.

PASSAU

PASSAU IS A TOWN WHERE THREE RIVERS MEET: THE DANUBE, THE INN AND THE ILZ.
