ZLATÁ KORUNA MONASTERY

The former abbacy in Zlatá Koruna is one of the best-preserved Cistercian monasteries on Czech soil. The monastery precinct was declared a national cultural monument in 1995. There is a permanent exhibition called "Writings in South Bohemia".

VYŠŠÍ BROD MONASTERY

Cistercian monastery founded in 1259. Tour includes a visit to the Gothic church with unique elements of Baroque, a gallery with over 100 paintings by Baroque masters, a gallery with exhibitions about Cistercian way of life, traditions and art, unparalleled Baroque monastery library.

ROŽMBERK CASTLE

Distance: 25 km

The castle was opened to the public as one of the first museums in Bohemia halfway through the 19th century. Neither the appearance or the furniture of the castle have changed since undergoing Romanticist rebuilding. The interiors, mostly Gothic style, are equipped with special items of furniture, some of which were carved by specialised carvers for the needs of the museum.

KLEŤ OBSERVATORY

Distance: 5 km

Kleť Observatory is one of the foremost locations in the world for the tracking and discovery of comets and other terrestrial bodies. During the tour your will be informed about Kleť observatory's research programme and its results see a permanent exhibition of astronomical photographs taken at the observatory including a long-term exhibition "Comet Gallery". In clear weather you can see sunspots and you will see the telescope with the largest lens in the Czech Republic, all presented with a expert explanation by the guide. Maximum capacity 45 persons.

Visits in large numbers may be booked outside these times.

Walk to the top of Kleť (1,083 metres above sea level), highest peak of Blanský Forest Range, visit to the observatoryand then to the oldest stone viewing tower in Bohemia, from which the peaks of the Alps are visible on a fine day.
