Český Krumlov has always plenty of entertainment on offer: performances by musical stars, captivating theatrical performances in front of the revolving auditorium, artistic exhibitions but also an excellent gastronomy. Become a part of the Krumlov summer.
The International Music Festival Český Krumlov has now moved to its second half however there is still a lot on offer. The legendary violinist Gidon Kremer with his Kremerata Baltica orchestra will make an appearance as well as Pavel Šporcl with a Gypsy cembalo band Romano Stilo or Vadirm Gluzman. The traditional national evening, this time a Mexican one, is also an integral part of the programme.
Another delicacy for the musical gourmets is a classical music festival - The Royal Musical Festival Zlatá Krouna. The areas of the Zlatá Koruna Monastery will be filled with music by the violinist Bohuslav Matoušek, the organ player Jaroslav Tůma or the chamber music ensemble Verner Collegium. You can also see the concert by Nezmaři band (27 August) in Zlatá Koruna. The Vyšší Brod Monastery invites you to visit a folk evening with the Lakomá Barka band (5 August) and on Dívčí Kamen you can listen to historical music during a performance by the Exfanta band (7 August) but also by the guitar player Štěpán Rak (21 August) and the Bonsai č. 3 and Mošny bands (21 August) wll play on the Rožmberk castle.
Robin Hood, hero of the Sherwood forest, the Scottish King Macbeth or Der Freischütz will bid you welcome on the Revolving Auditorium and will tell their ancient stories. The Rožmberk castle will also come alive with theatre: the theatrical club Českokrumlovská scéna will perform the Double Truth about William of Rosenberg here. You will meet another representative of the noble Rosenbergs, Petr Vok, during the non-traditional tours of the castle. The Bilbo Cabaret (11-13 August) will perform during a few summer evenings in Zlatá Koruna.
Would you like to make your childrens' holidays unforgettable? Take them along to see a fairy tale. The fairytale performance Wonderful Adventures performed by the historical fencing group Brothers of the Rose on rhe Rožmberk Castle will surely be an unforgettable experience (3 August). Vyšší Brod will be another place of entertainment. Kids will be able to play with clowns, marionettes, dance, play sports or make their own jewellery as part of the 1000 + 1 Minute of Fun project. There is also the traditional St. Bartholomew's Fair in Vyšší Brod (21 August) or the Formanské Celebrations in Kaplice (27 - 28 August).
If you still have some spare time, you can visit some interesting exhibitions in the many Krumlov museums or galleries or play some sports. The activity offer is very wide indeed.
