COMPLETE MEDIA SERVICES
After the floods in August 2002 they managed to draw media attention and co-operate with CCCR as well as professional PR agencies and arrange complete press services:
Co-operation with media ranks among principal activities of the DM. It is the most efficient way how to spread information regarding the destination. Nowadays high quality and professional advertising is very prior and necessary for modern and developing subjects – destinations. Archives of published articles and reports, examples of distributed news items, see enclosure, www.ckrumlov.cz since February 2003.
In August 2002 the DM had to deal with the unfavourable consequences left behind the floods. It was necessary to provide information about the situation in town, make suggestions and take measures immediately :
14 August 2002 after putting Internet on town web-site in operation – Official Information System www.ckrumlov.cz/zaplavy – first summary information describing the situation appeared and gave positive details of following steps.
16 August 2002 the emergency strategy team F met and suggested starting a positive drive in order to inject new life into tourism in Český Krumlov. It was prepared and the official declaration “Český Krumlov is alive“ was accepted by the critical team. In the night 16/17 August it was sent to media, representative authorities of the Czech Republic, travel agencies, CCCR representation abroad and CCCR in Prague, ČSA airlines, travel agency Čedok, Czech centres, information tourist centres in the Czech Republic, etc., altogether 2,000 addresses and contacts.
Since 17 August 2002 the intensive drive and co-operation with media have been working. They take advantages of every opportunities to spread information and speak about Český Krumlov – a safe destination which is ready to welcome tourists from all over the world.
31 August 2002 the exhibition of Český Krumlov photographers " Floods observed by Český Krumlov photographers" was opened at inundated premises of Egon Schiele Art Centre – preparation was organized and co-ordinated by the DM, town management and partners of other institutions. The exhibition should have documented course of floods, floods receding as well as drawn people´s attention to those in need and motivated and instigated co-operation with all people interested in bringing tourism back to life.
The critical situation accelerated some drives which had been planned and prepared before. They involved support and development of tourism in Český Krumlov. St. Wenceslaw Festivals, Advent, UNESCO DAY were introduced . They were also able to extend castle opening until the end of the year. They managed to arouse entrepreneurs and culture event organizers interest in supporting various events and other marketing and advertising activities.
The partnership expects to reach the aim – developments and goal-directed advertising of the Český Krumlov destination. The DM acts as “director” – the play will never be performed without interest and participation of the others.
All the events arranged during the last three months in 2002 including the exhibition of Salvador Dalí at Egon Shiele Art Centre and state Castle and Chateau opening during the Christmas time supported tourism in the town . They also improved the town image after it had been damaged by the floods in August 2002..
11 June 2002 - PUBLIC PROFESSION DISCUSSION “FESTIVALS IN ČESKÝ KRUMLOV“
The project “Český Krumlov Festivals“ was introduced at the public meeting as well as other intentions and possible forms of co-operation, for example, “ Český Krumlov card “ – packet of services for one price . The project involved difficult preparation and financial support. Therefore the DM was established together with partners who were interested in first sample packet Last Minute Offers which made Český Krumlov tourist offer more attractive after the floods, and are part and parcel of the information and communication drive.

The DM organized advertising, some items on the agenda, communication with media, co-ordination of individual subjects participating in organizing.

The DM organized advertising, communication with media, co-ordination with individual subjects, preparation of special programs for visitors, for example, “Christmas culinary art“.
6 – 7 December 2002 UNESCO DAYS
The DM and its partners instigated and carried out official festivals, arranged financial support, preparations of program and exhibitions, addressed personalities, organized press conference, communication with town subjects, data preparation,work with media.
The aim was to find modern trends, knowledge and experience in tourism services, and to get information about entering European Union, and to exchange experiences with foreign colleagues. Education and permanent services improvement is the only way how to succeed.
Common projects and products with Tourismusverband Mühlviertel – introducing Český Krumlov in the official and main catalogue of tourist offer in the Mühlviertel region and Tourismusverband Bad Leonfelden – co-operation and implementation of advertising materials, workshop co-operation, common project co-operation of tourist destinations Linz – Passau – Český Krumlov.
Contacts, communication and co-operation with regional and supra-regional institutions, public and private, support and teamwork while applying for grant projects. Collaboration and communication with the Department of Tourism at Regional Office, taking part in program preparation concerning region development – tourism, counselling how to fix the regional tourist organization.
Working in the Tourist Board of the South Bohemia Tourist Headquarters, working in the Tourist Board and being a member of the plenary session of towns Czech Inspiration, working in the executive committee Czech Heritage UNESCO Association. January – February 2002 co-operation with the town of Český Krumlov, Department of Culture and External Affairs, support while applying for and acquiring grant projects PHARE concerning tourism.
