Snow is gradually disappearing from the cobbled streets, the sun rays are shining on the coloured house facades and the castle bears have woken from their winter sleep - all these signals mean that spring is arriving to the picturesque Český Krumlov.
The coming spring has also brought a fresh crop of cultural events. On Tuesday 9 March you can listen to an interesting lecture about the family of Josef Seidel and his craft. The lecture will take place in the unique Museum Photo Studio Seidel.
The Ántré theatre club offers a colourful mixture of music genres during the month of March. The offer will satisfy rock aficionados (Bran - 4 March, Diaryba & TBA - 6 March), jazz fans (Quattro Formaggi - 13 March) but also fans of folk music (Bagpipe music from Krumlov - 18 March). You can dance in the country music rhythms in the U Bejka pub (Papouškovo sirotci - 6 March, Tuláci - 20 March).
Český Krumlov will celebrate Easter in the beginning of April. The Svornosti square will come alive with the traditional Easter market from Thursday 1 April to Monday 5 April. The traders and farmers will offer their products and let you taste some traditional delicacies. You can also enjoy fine food in the many local restaurants of Český Krumlov.
Come to the Monastery garden on Sunday (4 April) to view the Passion games and enjoy the ancient biblical story of Jesus Christ. You can admire the art of Easter eggs decoration (13 March) or taste the traditional Doudleby pastries in the R-gallery.
Right now you have the last chance to enjoy the beauty of our town without masses of tourists. The main tourist seasons starts from 1 April when the State Castle and Chateau Český Krumlov, the Museum of Building Arts and Craft, International Gallery of Decorative Arts and Graphite Mine will open their doors to visitors after the winter break.
The places around the town also wake up. Starting from April you can also visit the Rožmberk State Castle, Zlatá Koruna Monastery but also the Kleť Observatory.
