Zlaté dno řemesel

The key exhibition of the season at the Regional Museum is called "Golden Floor of Crafts and Trades in the Český Krumlov Area at the Turn of the 19th and 20th Centuries" will show the visitors the everyday lives of petty craftsmen, tradesmen and businessmen. It will present valuable period documents and photographs along with an unusually rich and varied selection of authentic artifacts. These will show you in a very vivid way the half forgotten world of glassmakers, millers, travelling blacksmiths, blacksmiths, potters, bakers, tailors or cobblers. A typical regional product with a deeply rooted tradition in the Southern Bohemia - beer - will also be present along with the trade closely linked to it - a pub.

This exhibition takes visitors into the environment of everyday lives of petty craftsmen, tradesmen and businessmen forced to resist the mounting pressures of industrialized competition. They compete in their local communities with a personalized quality of their products or services as well as an unusual work effort with a frequent contribution of entire families including the children. The folk saying about a trade in hand finding gold in every land usually contained a simple truth that a skilled craftsman or an honest tradesman was able to make a living through his trade which was passed down from generation to generation. Another saying was more visibly manifested in the everyday lives of these people, namely the saying: "our customer, our master".
