Easter in Český Krumlov 2019

The square will come alive with the craft market starting from Thursday 18 April to Monday 22 April. Craftsmen and tradesmen will have an abundant selection of products such as Old Bohemian delicacies, rattles, whistles, Easter eggs decorated in various techniques, Easter whip, spring flowers and various decorations. The Český Krumlov Monasteries will present for the fourth year a rich schedule of events. You can have fun during the treasure hunt and Easter workshops or experience an Easter vigil of the Holy Sepulchre with a guard. For rafting fans, Easter wooden rafting cruises are once again prepared.

You can admire painted Easter eggs, gingerbread or dolls from corn husks and more in the R-gallery in Dlouhá Street, where is an Eastern sales exhibition held from March to Easter.

On Good Friday, you and your children go to the Monasteries for adventurous treasure hunting. Also, do not miss the unique Krumlov tradition in the form of Night vigil of the Holy Sepulchre and come to contemplate at the contrived tomb of Jesus Christ in the Church of the Body of Christ and of the Virgin Mary of Our Sorrows. The guard of honour at the tomb of God will be provided by the Schwarzenberg grenadier guard; the night vigil will begin at 6 pm and will go on until midnight.

The Monastery craft lane will open on Easter Saturday and you can also enjoy a contemporary market on the monastery courtyard. Come and get a great opportunity to see craftsmen at work - a potter, a bag maker, a saddler, a bookbinder, a blacksmith, a baker, a fuller, a soap-maker or a glass-blower, and create a traditional craft product together with your children. On the monastery courtyard horses from the Český Krumlov stable Pohoda will be ridden by children and the whole Saturday program will be fine-tuned by the popular band Papouškovo sirotci.

An Easter Celebration with folklore music and dance on the Monastery courtyard with the folklore ensemble Jitřenka on Easter Sunday will recall Easter traditions such as braiding of the Easter whips or Easter egg painting. The monastery craft lane and the period market will also be open again. The traditional Easter concert of the Krumlov Perchta Municipal Singing Choir and the ladies duo DUODAM will take place in the St. Vitus cathedral at 6 pm. At the same time a favourite Easter concert will be held in Zlatá Koruna

Voroplavba (wooden rafting) Český Krumlov has traditionally prepared Easter rides for you from Thursday to Sunday. From the port of Krumlovské Benátky (at the bridge of Dr. E. Beneš), the rafts will be set out every half hour from 2 to 4 pm.
