Open-Air Theatre with the Revolving Auditorium will celebrate 60th aniversary

For the 2018 season at the Open-Air Theatre with the Revolving Auditorium Český Krumlov, the South Bohemian Theatre has prepared from June 6 to September 10 a number of titles appealing to audiences - total 92 performancies.

Opera lovers will be offered a new piece - the opera drama Il Trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi, directed by Tomáš Studený and with Mario De Rose's musical production. Other highlights include the splendid opera by Antonín Dvořák, Rusalka, directed by Jiří Heřman, and the opera The Cunning Little Vixen by Leoš Janáček, which was staged with great success in 2016 under the direction of the duo SKUTR.

The ballet ensemble will present in front of the Revolving Auditorium the ballet story of Valmont. The Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont hatch plots for which not only their innocent victims but they themselves pay. This well-known story on the dividing line between dance theatre and drama will be created by the choreographer Libor Vaculík on the music of Franz Schubert and P. Vasks.

The Drama Ensemble of the South Bohemian Theatre will stage at the Open-Air Theatre the comedy The Decameron, the comedy Henry VIII's Wives and in addition the detective comedy The Hound of the Baskervilles. Also will present a novelty - horror Dracula from B. Stoker. The Little Theatre will present a new story for all family The Lost World according A. C. Doyle.

The revolving auditorium recalls this year's 60th anniversary of this unique theater phenomenon. On this occasion, visitors will be able to visit the exhibition Joan Brehms (1907-1995): scenographer, architect, painter, prepared by the National Museum along with Joan Brehms Archive. From June 6th to September 30th, the exhibition in the Český Krumlov Monastery will present the personality of the versatile artist J. Brehms, the father of the revolving auditorium, the author of the original conception of the turntable and the long-time stage designer of the South Bohemian Theater.
