The town will come alive with a carnival feast, a miller-style entertainment and a carnival parade in the middle of February. You will be able to enjoy the festivities for several days. Several restaurants in Český Krumlov will prepare traditional pig-sticking specialties and various other carnival delicacies for the second weekend in February.
A colourful procession of masks will commence a two-hour long parade through the town on Tuesday 16 February at 4 pm. The Šumava Mountains are the main motive of this year's carnival procession and so you will see mainly animal-inspired costumes. The giants of Šumava, last bear of Šumava or the wild ride of Šumava are certain to capture your imagination. The parade participant will entertain you at each stop. Besides the Šumava-inspired masks, you can also look forward to the much-admired costumes and scenes from last years - a Venetian, African and Czech group of masks.
The dates between 13 and 16 February also mark the beginning of Chinese New Year. The Municipal Theatre will add another programme in addition to the carnival feast: a Chinese festival Songfest.cz and welcoming the Year of the Tiger.
