International Český Krumlov River Marathon 2019

The seventeenth annual International Český Krumlov River Marathon will be held on the Vltava river on Saturday October 12, 2019. It´s the biggest sporting event in the town and one of the largest sporting events of the South Bohemian Region. More than a thousand of water sports fans from 25 countries of the world will take part, among them also rowers Václav Chalupa and Ondřej Synek. 

The competitors will set off for the start from Vyšší Brod and Rožmberk nad Vltavou at 11.00 am. The start in Vyšší Brod is designed for kayaks and canoes, the start in Rožmberk for crews of boats, rafts, large canoes and paddle boarders. Both starts are very attractive for visitors. Those interested will see more than 350 competitors, who will try to reach the highest step on the podium in 26 categories.

Anyone who is older than 9 years can enlist in the race. For pupils up to 15 years old, there is a pupil's mini marathon, which is 11 km long. It starts at the camp called Na Pískárně at 1 pm. There is enough space in the campsite for all spectators to encourage the competitors. All participants of the marathon have a compulsory overrun here and after passing 150 m on a gravel road, they sit back into their boats and continue the race. 

The competitors pass through the entire town of Český Krumlov up to the finish, which is the same for all categories. A stopwatch stops at the Náplavka at the Brewery Garden level. Supporting cultural and entertainment sport programme for participants, viewers and other visitors will take place at the race finish in the garden of Historical Brewery and is ready from 12.00 pm. Admission is free.
