1373 - Luczewiczie
1450 - Chienperg

The first mention of the town is from 1361. The town was one of the tributary towns of the Vyšší Brod Monastery. In the later 1800's, a large paper factory was built named Vltavský Mlýn, or Mill on the Vltava. Construction of the paper mill began in 1885 and was finished in 1886 by Arnošt Porák. The mill originally produced sulfite cellulose and began with paper products in 1895. In 1901 a second mill was built for the production of cardboard. From 1909 to 1911, an independent electric train line from Rybník was installed.
Church of St. Oldřich - built in late gothic style at the end of the 15th century on the site of an earlier chapel from 1361, reconstructed again from 1640 - 1644.
Church of St. Prokop - first mention from 1310. Main altar from 1631, internal furnishings from 17th century.
The town lies in the Vyšebrodsko natural park, where the nature reservations Rašeliniště Kapličky and Medvědí hora are found among natural mixed forest areas. Very close by are other national nature reservations such as the Rock Formations Čertova stěna and Luč with unique massive granite formations and natural undergrowth forests. Lake Lipno is nearby.
