Town History

Church

Origin of the Name :
1315 - Moyn
1375 - Moyny
1521 - Mojné
1654 - Moyne
1720 - Mogne
1789 - Mognie, Moyne

The first written mention of the town is from 1315. After many years, the town finally passed into the ownership of the Zlatá Koruna Monastery. In later years the town became independent, and in 1960 included Skřidla while Černice belonged to Rájov. In 1960 Skřidla was incorporated to Velešín and Černice to Mojné. The towns remained this way until December 17, 1971 when, in spite of the inhabitants' protests, the entire township with its parts was incorporated to the central township of Dolní Třebonín. The town again declared independence upon the renewal of independent rights.
