From Friday, 26th April, to Tuesday, 1st May, Český Krumlov is going to dress a magic robe and to turn into Magical Krumlov. A rich events schedule celebrating the arrival of spring and the month of love is planned for little and big visitors.
Svornosti Square welcomes a May Fair. There will be the sellers from Easter until May 1 this time and they will be offering a wide array of traditional Czech delicacies as well as handicraft demonstrations and sale of small trinkets linked to May - the month of love.
Saturday, April 27, will offer a truly rich program in the Monasteries Český Krumlov, where you will be able to create together with your children magical bubble blowers. You can also prepare enchanted dreamcatchers, a witch broom or produce different paper lanterns for the popular evening procession during Magical Krumlov. The afternoon program at the monastery courtyard will be revived by the popular Český Krumlov ladies' band Lakomá Barka. On the same day you can go with your children to a guided tour of the town in the footsteps of the Rosenbergs or you can visit the castle garden and on that occasion discover the Baroque garden.
Traditionally, Sunday 28 April offers town walks for adults, or you can take part in a basket making workshop in the Český Krumlov Monasteries, from where the participants take home a handmade basket.
Do not miss a Magic May at Seidels, which takes place on both weekend days. A Magic May Photographing in Museum Fotoatelier Seidel is a wonderful opportunity to let yourself be photographed under the blooming May branch with your darling, be it human or animal.
Also this year, students of a local gymnasium will celebrate their festival with a town procession in costumes, this time on topic of history. A traditional rag-day procession will start on Tuesday, April 30, at 10 am from the school building and will pass through historical town centre and head to the Brewery Gardens. In the gardens will be after music performances of particular classes proclaimed the King and Queen of rag day for 2019.
Tuesday afternoon (from 2 pm) at the Brewery gardens will be dedicated mostly to kids, but to adults too. There will be Children´s Afternoon of Witchcraft, joint decorating and erection of the Maypole, Krumlov fair of non-profit organizations and performances by pupils of the Artistic Elementary School and other children ensembles. The evening festive lighting of the bonfire and burning the witch will be accompanied by the concert of Robert Křesťan & Druhá tráva, while as a special guest will introduce himself CHARLIE McCOY (USA). The braver ones can take the Mysterious Trail through the Monastery gardens starting from 8.30 pm. Those who do not wish to explore the monastery gardens´ secrets can join the lantern procession setting off at 8.30 pm from Svornosti square through Široká Street to Latrán into the Brewery gardens.
The Magical Krumlov schedule of events also includes the May Day afternoon of open-door museums and galleries, which offer discounted entrances to expositions.
