The large monastery building complex opens to public for the first time in history on 28 November 2015 following several years of revitalizations efforts. This unique complex comprises of three monasteries and its total built-up area is the second largest in Český Krumlov just after the Castle. It offers a unique chance to the general public and especially to families, children and the youth to experience the life in monasteries, its culture, history and arts of the period. This is an intriguing space for learning and for new experiences.
The monasteries host a permanent exhibition about a medieval monastery, life and arts within it. The permanent expositions also include an interactive exposition, an exposition on the life of the Poor Clares and a beer brewing exhibition. There are also craft workshops located within the premises where visitors can make their own products in a blacksmith, book press or glass blowing workshop.
Visitors can also find an interesting exhibition located at the original monastery roof frames; a miniature exposition of an astronomical clock, a press or a cable crane awaits in the outside area. Interesting exhibitions, theatre performances and concerts are planned to take place in the monastery complex. The monasteries´ space is also for hire for year-round educational and teambuilding events such as seminars and varied workshops.
The Christmas at Bethlehem at the Český Krumlov monasteries are set to become the jewel of this year's advent programme. Starting from 28 November visitors can expect four advent weekends filled with special Christmas-themed events - such as Christmas guided tours, theatrical performances, concerts, handicraft demonstrations with the possibility to make your own Christmas presents or just a pre-Christmas chat. These will be moments of calm and peace in the wonderful setting of the newly revitalized monasteries of Český Krumlov.
