30th Year - Chamber Music Festival Český Krumlov

The jubilee 30th year of the Chamber Music Festival Český Krumlov begins already on Friday 24 June with the traditional Baroque Night. This is a unique replica of chateau and garden festivities of the baroque period. The main areas of the Český Krumlov chateau will be filled with period dance music and an original concert. Guests will include the Alla Danza and Krumlov Pipers ensembles as well as the regular guest Jiří Stivín performing the role of the musical clown. The highlight of the evening will the the baroque opera - this year Don Tabarando e Scintilla by Johann Adolf Hasse performed by Capella Regia under Robert Hugo. The other highlight will be the Castle garden illuminated by candles and baroque fireworks built precisely according to period plans.

The jubilee year will bring all the typical and popular festival events along with several new ones. A concert called Homage to the Violin will pay tribute to long-time Festival President Master Josef Suk who departed five years ago. An excellent younger generation violinist Roman Patočka will perform along with pianist Adam Skoumal.

The other festival programme focuses on the brightest stars among the young Czech musician generation. These include the violoncellist Tomáš Jamník with the pianist Jan Bartoš. Or Ivo Kahánek and Jan Fišer with other young musicians during another concert. Both concerts will also present the newly founded Chamber Music Academy, established to support the most gifted young players practicing repertoire of different kind. The Academy closely cooperates with the Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz.

The audience will welcome once again Barbora Polášková and Petr Martínek in a varied evening filled with opera arias performed in the attractive synagogue hall. The String Orchestra Český Krumlov with their soloist Miroslav Ambroš will again perform with the popular String Concert by Mendelssohn and the G-moll Symphony by Mozart.

The newly restored Český Krumlov Monastery will play host to a concert combining the trumpet and the organ in an attractive combination; the former first trumpeter of the Czech Philharmonics Miroslav Kejmar and the organist Drahomíra Matznerová will perform. One of the three concerts at the Synagogue will be dedicated to traditional Jewish music performed by Michal Fořt and the Tateloshn ensemble. There will also be a jazz concert on the Hotel Růže terrace with J. J. JAZZMEN and Martin Bárta.

Festival komorní hudby - klášterní kostel The best Slovak chamber orchestra Capella Istropolitana has agreed to perform during the festive closing concert. The founder of the Festival Jaroslav Krček and oboe player Gabriela Krčková will be guests of the concert. The nocturnal recital by the pianist Ragna Schirmer will symbolically follow up this concert. The open air conclusion to the Festival will take place on the Square with the Schwarzenberg Guards´ Band. And after visiting various Krumlov sights we shall return to the monastery Church of the Divine Body for a joint concert by the renowned violinist Jitka Hosprová and Lubomír Brabec. One of our most famous songsters Jarek Nohavica will provide a conclusion to the Festival in a guitar and a heligónka recital with his guest Robert Kusmierski - accordion and piano.
