29th Chamber Music Festival will open with a spectacular Baroque Night

The 29th Chamber Music Festival, the oldest music festival in Český Krumlov, will traditionally open with a Baroque Night, with a round of masked dancers, singing, dancing, a stylish feast, castle and baroque gardens will be dressed in candlelight. The highlight of the night will take place in the Castle Baroque Theater - opera by Wenzel Müller: "Sisters from Prague".

Two festival concerts will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of the 2nd World War and the tragical events it had brought. One of them will be a special concert in the renovated Jewish Synagogue of Český Krumlov on June 28th. It will be a performance by Blumsingers Prague, led by Joseph Kšica, program will feature music by Max Bruch, Gideon Klein, Petr Eben and Michael Nyman. Anniversary of the war and the memory of recently deceased veteran Jan Horal, intrinsically associated just with Český Krumlov, will be commemorated at the final concert of the festival on July 4th. The highlight of this concert is going to be Charpentier's Te Deum, famous work of the French Baroque era, the main theme being thanksgiving. Solo will be perfpormed by a concert violinist Jitka Hosprová in one of the first concerts of Georg Philipp Telemann.

Chamber music concerts will include a trio, string quartet as well as larger ensebles. Fresco Trio is on programme on July 1st, in co-production with the Europäische Wochen Festival. Piano quintet on July 2nd will offer two magnificent piano concertos. Pianist Jan Simon, accompanied by the Herold Quartet, will perform Concerto no. 13 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and particular Piano Concerto no. 1 in E-minor by Frederic Chopin. Adamus Ensemble will then pay tribute to the former president of the festival Josef Suk and will add several oboe concertos of High Baroque on July 3rd.

The terrace of the Hotel Růže will welcome Juwan Jenkins with a Bluesband on the 30th June. The Town Square will see a favourite Schwarzenberg Guard Jazzband. Another exceptional concert will be hosted by Hotel Růže and will remind its guests of its own past. The hotel, originally a Jesuit College, will host, on June 28th, Jiří Stivín along with his Collegium Quodlibet in the Jesuit Hall of Hotel Růže with Tribute Concert to the Desciples of Jesus.
