Danse Macabre

25th August - 28th August in Český Krumlov

Danse Macabre

Danse Macabre is a synthesis of modern dance theatre and antique mystery play. It connects East and West: Baroque Danse Macabre representations are associated with pictures and concepts from the Tibetan Book of the Death.

The performers guide the spectators on a journey through the intermediate worlds after the death to the light. In the Middle Ages death and dance where not considered a contradiction, they were part of the same reality of life. The Tibetan mythology sees death not as an end, rather as a transition and start of the soul journey. Bridge ghosts, protecting spirits, an execution - religious beliefs and ritual ways of leading with death in different cultural traditions are getting here alive. „In front of death all people are the same. Come on, let's dance".

The El Haddawi Dance Company under direction of Ingo Taleb Rashid presents the dance theatre and mystery play Danse Macabre from August 25th - 28th, 2016 in cooperation with the town theatre Český Krumlov in Český Krumlov.
