The Egon Schiele Art Centrum owes its foundation in 1992/93 to the private initiative of three individuals who recognized the unique atmosphere after the fall of the Iron Curtain between the Eastern and Western Europe and have significantly contributed to the idea of creation of an international art center in one of Europe's loveliest Renaissance towns. The Egon Schiele Art Centrum houses an exhibition documenting the life and work of Egon Schiele as well as a permanent exhibition of his works. In addition, various rotating exhibits of both classical 20th century and contemporary art take place in the Centrum covering an area of 3000 sq.m. Another part of the museum has been developed into large art studios for long-term residing young artists coming from both Eastern and Western Europe. Art studios are leased on a 10-year basis to Ministries of Culture or various national art institutions. A writers' suite is also available. The Museum also houses a well-stocked Museum shop and a traditional café serving assorted Czech specialties and catering to both artists and art lovers alike. Since its opening in 1993, the Egon Schiele Art Centrum has become an internationally recognized and frequently visited institution. This is an entirely private initiative, its success stemming from a few individuals' immense dedication and funding from various sponsors, foreign grants and friends.

Autumn Season 2008
HERMANN STENNER (1891-1914)| Dates | from - to |
| 03.11.2008 - 30.11.2008 (Mo-Su) | 10:00 - 18:00 |
The autumn season of 2008 will be dedicated to an immensely talented artist with a tragic fate: HERMANN STENNER was born in 1891 and died in 1914. Despite his life being cut short prematurely on the Great War battlefield, this artist belongs into the league of the most important personalities in 20th century art, on par with artists such as Egon Schiele (1890-1918). Although his creative period has lasted for only 5 years, he has produced an impressive volume of works of art. For the artist's first exhibition in the Czech Republic, we have managed to compile over 200 artefacts. His oil paintings and drawing on paper document his Impressionst-influenced beginnings around 1909 and a gradual transition to a stronger, more expressive painting with a consistent line and rich colours. An influence of Kandinsky, and particularly of his teacher's Adolf Hölzel's can be traced in the artist's paintings. The highlight of Stenner's work are his expressionist paintings. This exhibition is being prepared in co-operation with Professor Hermann Bunt.

JAN AUTENGRUBER (1887-1920)| Dates | from - to |
| 03.11.2008 - 30.01.2009 (Mo-Su) | 10:00 - 18:00 |
JAN AUTENGRUBER - born in Pacov in 1887, died in Prague in 1920. A Schiele contemporary and one of the "forgotten" artists of this time. He has attended the Munich Academy in the years 1906 to 1907 and in the following years has participated in many exhibitions in Germany to a high critical acclaim. His frequent stays abroad and particularly his premature death (same as Schiele) have both contributed to the artist's name sinking into oblivion with both the general public and experts. This exhibit aims to aid the process of re-discovery of this interesting artist.
