26th annual municipal historical celebrations referring back to the Renaissance period, during the rule of the last Rosenbergs. This event has received the Event of the Year Award for 2010 in the Czech Republic.
THIS YEAR´S TOPIC:
Battle of the Good: FESTINA LENTE (Rush slowly) versus MEMENTO MORI (Remember the death)
It is an infrequent occurrence in history when two life philosophies of two strongly linked personalities have both a positive resonance. Mostly it is about the battle of good versus evil. A strife of good and evil has always been more attractive than a struggle of two positive ideas. And so such a struggle loses its attention from our minds. Therefore it is good, or even necessary, to remember such thoughts and personalities linked to them. Český Krumlov as former part of the Rosenberg dominion has much to fall back on. Through the Rosenberg dynasty and its two most prominent personalities, William and Petr of Rosenberg, we can observe the battle of two life attitudes which formed their behaviour and actions even before they were able to consciously formulate these thoughts. These philosophies have influenced not only the fate of their dominion but in its consequences they also altered the history of the entire Bohemian kingdom.
This story of two brothers whose fates and attitudes intersect and blend together but also digress and differ is an inspirational material as well as food for thought. It offers an opportunity to contemplate the workings of contemporary world and the role each of us plays in this world. Now you have the possibility to experience something unique against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Let’s take a trip back in time to enjoy and experience the period of court celebrations, juggler performances, shows by traveling comedians and renowned theatrical companies, court music and dancing and historical cuisine.
Organizers thank all their partners for supporting the 26th Five-petalled Rose Celebrations!
