The purpuse of the festival is to revive generic and genre traditions connected with Český Krumlov treatre history in stage and interpretation work of top-ranking home and foreign theatre players while using the most authentic places the settings of rich tradition and most effective architectonical and urbanistic elements. The program scale presented includes both classic performances (chamber opera, balley and dance, kinetic and bodily theatre, marionette theatre etc.) and extemporal forms for example commedie dell´arte, street and carnival theatre, slapstics and modern pantomime, new circus with juggling, acrobatics, stitting and similar, site-specific projects and other paratheatre expressions representing today´s theatre and art. The other significant purpose is the development of longterm cross- border cooperation - particularly theatre and art institutions and choruses from neigbouring countries of Austria and Bayern. Similarly the program is open to European Union integration tendencies and to the professionalists´ interest from abroad. Foreign public and interested people could enjoy the festival as the Day of open doors to all theatre settings of the town with demostration of their usage.
