This year, the International Music Festival Český Krumlov reaches maturity, and the celebrations of these eighteen years of existence will be truly magnificent.
However, a much greater number will be playing a role in the opening concert - the number 700. It refers to the number of years that have passed since the foundation of Český Krumlov. Therefore, the Český Krumlov International Music Festival has, in cooperation with the town of Český Krumlov, decided to hold a grand concert which will take place on the Concord Square (Náměstí Svornosti). And what else should be heard than the vocal and instrumental works the festival ordered to be written for the 5th anniversary of the festival - F.X. Thuri: Water Music for Český Krumlov. This unique work is dedicated to four aristocratic families who reigned in Krumlov.
The apex of the festival will follow next day when the world-renowned soprano Renée Fleming will perform at the festival. The Open Air gala concert in the Brewery Gardens will surely be a nice present not only for the festival, but especially for all its visitors.
As in the past, we will present a co-production of Dvořák's Rusalka in cooperation with the South Bohemian Theater at the Revolving Auditorium.
Due to the great success of last year’s performance, we will present the second part of the Night On Broadway show, which will again feature many Broadway members.
This year, lovers of social evenings full of traditional music, dances and gastronomic experiences, can look forward to the Hungarian Night show, where, inter alia, the attractive Pálya Bea will perform with her quintet.
The concert of the harpist Kateřina Englichová with the guitarist Lubomír Brabec and the violoncellist Alžběta Vlčková in the Masquerade Hall of the castle, will be, without a doubt, a beautiful experience .
Coming all the way from Israel, Shlomo Mintz, who will also introduce himself in the role of a conductor, will show you his masterful skills on the violin in the Castle Riding Hall. For our younger listeners we scheduled a concert for families with children, where The Calgary Youth Orchestra will perform. The glorious end of the festival will be Dvořák's Concerto for Cello and Orchestra in B minor in the interpretation of Kyrill Rodin, which will take place in the Castle Riding Hall.
