Museum Fotoatelier Seidel is a unique site of a European significance. This house from the secession period is the location of the original Seidel Fotoatelier and still houses a fully furnished photo studio from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The set of period equipment includes photo cameras, customer books and also a fully fitted dark room.
By visiting the Museum Fotoatelier Seidel you can indulge in the atmosphere of a not-too-distant history. During the visit you can put yourselves in the shoes of a customer from the end of the 19th century. Unlike these customers, you will also be able to view areas in the photo studio that were not open to the public.
The tradition of photography was created in this unique place. The photo studio of Josef and František Seidel will surprise you by the authenticity, vast quantities of unique period photographs, photo postcards and glass negatives.
This exhibition is open all year round and it will show you many interesting items from the world of photography. You will also have an idea what life was like in the Šumava region on the Czech-Austrian border at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and in the first half of the 20th century.
Museum Fotoatelier Seidel can be visited daily from 9 am to 6 pm. Guided tours start on the hour every hour except for 12 am. Last tour starts at 5 pm. Families with children are able to get discounted family tickets for the Museum Fotoatelier Seidel.
