6th annual Krumlov Waterman Maraton takes place on Saturday 11 October

We invite you for the waterman marathon! Although the weather may not look like it, the second October Sunday (as has become the tradition in the past 5 years) will belong to the watermen. Both watermen amateurs but also Olympic and world championships medal winners will compete across 22 categories in total.

The sports club KVM Český Krumlov together with local Krumlov watermen from SK Vltava are jointly organizing the KRUMLOV WATER MARATHON (or KWM) on Saturday 11 October.

The competition on the Vltava River will be festively opened by the Olympic Gold Medal winner and World Champion in cross-country skiing, Kateřina Neumannová.. The KWM will be held by the auspices of Mr. Miloslav Vlček, chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic who will also be present in person.

The crews of flatboats and rafts will start inRožmberk nad Vltavou after the opening shot. These crews will compete in the R4 and R5 categories for the Master title of the best Marathon crew of the KWM. The competitors will be accompanied from start to finish by a helicopter owned by the main partner of the marathon – the ALFA-HELICOPTER Company.

The marathon competitors will reach Český Krumlov after sailing 36 or 26 kilometers of the Vltava River. The water flow in the river will be increased especially for the occasion. The competitors will have to face the tricky Krumlov sluices to reach the finishing point – the Eggenberg brewery.

The gates of the Brewery gardens will be open from 11 am to all visitors and passersby. There will be a rich programme in the gardens, including a sports afternoon for children (competing in both traditional and non-traditional disciplines), a performance of the Krumlov fencers, a fairytale performance, as well as sales stands of the KWM partners (especially stands with sports equipment).

Thanks to the main partner of the KWM, the ALFA-HELICOPTER company (this company also arranges the air rescue service during the marathon) you can view an Ambulance vehicle in the Brewery gardens. You can not only view the ambulance vehicle, but also ask the rescue team about everything about saving peoples’ lives.
