Magical Krumlov Bids Welcome to Springtime

From 29th April to 1st May 2008 Český Krumlov will change into Magical Krumlov. This event celebrates through a number of interesting activities May, the month of love, and has been gaining in popularity in the last couple of years. During the three-day long celebration, visitors can view a numer of interesting exhibitions and events. The three-day long celebration programme will begin on Tuesday 29th April in the Municipal Office building in Kaplická street by the festive opening of „Theatre Through Children’s Eyes” and „Guide to My Town UNESCO 2007“ Exhibitions. The festive opening is planned for 4 pm. Both exhibitions, displaying creations by pupils of local elementary schools and organizations, are open for public viewing till the end of May.

Bewitched afternoon for children on Wednesday featuring Best Costume contest, a two-day Krumlov Fair, presenting various local non-profit organizations, schools and festivals, erection of the traditional May-pole. This is just a sample of the rich programme, designed to satisfy children and adults alike. Music lovers will surely not miss the performance of the folk-blues band „Tanec v jeteli“. Krumlov’s final April evening on 30th April will be concluded by the music band „Nadoraz“ playing a mixture of swing, jazz and rock.

Many local museums and galleries will open their doors on Thursday afternoon, 1st May and invite visitors in free of charge. This is part of an evening called Mayday Afternoon of Open Doors in Krumlov Museums and Galleries. Participating members include for example Czech Culture Gallery, International Gallery of Fine Art located in Wenceslas Cellars in the 4th Castle Courtyard, “Na Fortně” Art Studio, House of Photography, Municipal Library in Český Krumlov, Regional Museum in Český Krumlov or Museum of Building History and Crafts.
