Český Krumlov will celebrate Saint Wenceslas Day

In the end of September for the sixth time the town will revive with dance and singing, lots of beer will be drawn in the taverns and special menu will be served. There will be admission free in many galleries and museums for the visitors no matter what age they are. Saint Wenceslas Celebrations in Český Krumlov are for everybody and offer amusement, advice and extraordinary experience. This year´s three-day celebrations are part of 15th anniversary when Český Krumlov was included on UNESCO´s list of World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

This year´s Saint Wenceslas Celebrations which took place 1 100 years after the patron of the country and the town, wine-growers and brewers, Saint Wenceslas was born will bring some novelties.

One of the most distinct program changes which will be part of this year´s Saint Wenceslas Celebrations is Český Krumlov International Folklore Festival whose participants will dance in Krumlov streets and various corners of the historical town centre starting on Friday afternoon. 1st year of Český Krumlov International Folklore Festival is organized by Children´s House and Český Krumlov Růže Folklore Chorus. The festival continues in several year old tradition of children´s folklore choruses show. There will be performances of home choruses of Růže and Jitřenka, Úsviťáček from České Budějovice, Perníček from Pardubice, Ovečky from Valaššké Meziříčí, Krakowiak from Poland and others. The choruses will perform on Svornosti Square, in Brewery Gardens, within the framwork of the dancing town in the streets and various places of the centre.

The visitors in Brewery Gardens can seeBaráčnická rychtawhich will play to celebrate 85th anniversary of foundation of Vitoraz Tradition and Costume Group. On Saturday Baráčníci will celebrate their foundation in Egon Schiele Art Centre and their costume procession through the town will please its watchers.

The organizers of Saint Wenceslas Celebrations chose also some program for children.This year´s children´s program is interesting. In the playground in Hradební Street Saint Wenceslas darts playing and many other competitions, plays and amusing biological activities. There will be the morning of open hearts devoted especially for children when they could float on fairy tale raft on the Vltava River for free and visit chosen children´s expositions in Krumlov museums.

Many activities of the celebrations are verified by previous celebration years. Popular Saint Wenceslas fair on the square will present also the products of Klasa national brand. Market stall holders will offer multifarous range of goods and refreshment.The festive concert, Saint Wenceslas Mass, Artistic happening to celebrate Saint Wenceslas Holiday, Folklore inspiration - inspiration by the folklore with the performances of a row of music groups, meeting of people calledWenceslas and Václavka with the signatures in the memory book and the attempt to gather a record number of people called Wenceslas at one spot, tours in Saint Vitus Church which will be guided, Saint Wenceslas night of open museums and galleries when the admission will be free will please its visitors. Ten chosen restaurants will offer special Saint Wenceslas menu - tasty meals of Czech cuisine prepared according to the old recipes from traditional ingredients. Saint Wenceslas Early Evening Performance with Swingtrio group and interesting guests will offer in the Regional Museum also a debut of a new book by Jan Vaněčka from Český Krumlov Povídky z krumlovského Česka (Krumlov Short Stories). No doubt Eggenberg Brewery Tourswill be popular too.
