SONGFEST Festival - Celebration of the Year of the Horse 2014 is a multi-cultural festival taking place at the end of January and beginning of February as the Chinese Lunar Year of the Snake ends and we bid welcome to the New Year of the Horse. The Municipal Theatre of Český Krumlov will see the 7th year of this Festival on Saturday 1st February.

The chanson song performance of Fen-yün Song and Trio PUO will be enhanced by a humorous commentary by Jaroslav Dušek and a performance by one of the most exceptional personalities of the Czech alternative music scene, Iva Bittová who possesses over a unique voice in addition to being a brilliant violinist.

The main Concert of the Year of the Horse commences at 7 pm. Concert schedule will also include various guests and artists from Asia and traditional Chinese art form performers.

The auxiliary programme will run from 4 to 6.30 pm and will be accessible free of charge as usual. Visitors can enjoy many games and educational activities such as creative workshops for both children and adults, interactive seminars about Bohemian and cross-cultural verbal traditions, tasting of teas from China and elsewhere and of new natural organic products. Visitors can also consult with Chinese medicine practitioners free of charge.

Ticket sales and reservation on, or at the Info centre. Entry is 260 CZK on the spot or 220 CZK in advance. Discounts for senior citizens and students apply for advance ticket sales only.
