Carnival in Český Krumlov 2012

A carnival festival will descend upon Český Krumlov between 18 and 21 February. For the entire four days you can enjoy the celebrations. Expect carnival entertainment, good food and drinks but also a wonderful spectacle of the coloured masque procession and other events.

The carnival will enter the town on Friday 17 at 8 pm and will turn the Eggenberg restaurant into a large dance floor. The Carnival masque ball will bring entertainment for children and adults alike. There will be live music by Apollo dance orchestra and a raffle draw.

If you are fans of folk entertainment, you should not miss the Carnival celebrations which will fill the Brewery Gardens with dancing and pleasant food smells. You can see the traditional pig-sticking, buy various regional food specialties, sit in a heated tent and your children can have fun in the kid´s corner. Music by the Good Company band will enhance the entire atmosphere.

The Carnival procession will appear on the streets twice this year. Doudleban ensemble will walk on Saturday 18 February at 2 pm from Svornosti Square and end the processional route in the Brewery Gardens where they will join the Carnival celebrations. If you are unable to make it for the Saturday procession, you can look forward to the traditional procession of the Artistic Elementary School in Český Krumlov which will lighten the town up on Tuesday at 4 pm. Participants will entertain the viewers with a short performance during each stop.

Many restaurants in Český Krumlov will celebrate Carnival as well and prepare many pig-sticking delicacies as well as other traditional Carnival foods during the third weekend in February.
