Magical Krumlov promises a truly rich programme

From Friday, 27th April, to Tuesday, 1st May, Český Krumlov is going to dress a magic robe and to turn into Magical Krumlov. A rich events schedule celebrating the arrival of spring and the month of love is planned for little and big visitors.

A magical atmosphere enters Český Krumlov on Friday, April 27, when Svornosti Square becomes Square of Love and welcomes a May Fair. Until Tuesday, May 1, the sellers will be there offering a wide array of traditional Czech delicacies as well as handicraft demonstrations and sale of small trinkets linked to May - the month of love.

Also this year, students of a local gymnasium will celebrate their festival with a town procession in costumes, this time on topic of various holidays of the year. A traditional rag-day procession will start on Friday, April 27, at 10 am from the school building and will pass through Latrán and Široká Street onto Svornosti Square, from where they will head to the Brewery Gardens. In the gardens will be after music performances of particular classes proclaimed the King and Queen of rag day for 2018.

On Saturday take your steps also to Craft lane and the Monastery courtyard, where you will be able to create together with your children, and four great potters will introduce in frame of the event Thrown Monasteries various techniques of throwing ceramics on foot- and electric-powered potter's wheels.

Monday, April 30, will be dedicated mostly to kids, but to adults too. Everybody is invited to Brewery Gardens! There will be a traditional Children´s Afternoon of Witchcraft, joint maypole decoration and erection, lighting the pyre and burning of a witch. For fans of good food, organizers prepared this year a gastronomic novelty in the form of smoke meat specials. For children, there will be sausages available, which they can roast over fire. You can also taste the original Krumlov beer from the Český Krumlov Historical Brewery, including beer specials, mixed and other traditional beverages and drinks. Museum Fotoatelier Seidel has prepared a surprise for Monday afternoon. You can have an unique May remembrance and original contemporary portrait photo taken in the style of the turn of the 19th and 20th century directly in the Brewery Gardens. In the evening, you can take advantage of an unique opportunity to enjoy mysterious corners of the Monastery gardens and medieval architecture under candlelight, sound of music and various surprises. The braver ones can take the Mysterious Trail through the Monastery gardens. You can also join the lantern procession settings off at 8.30 pm from Svornosti square through town streets into the Brewery gardens.

The Magical Krumlov schedule of events also includes the May Afternoon of Open Museums and Galleries on the first of May. Do not forget to visit the monastery bakery and relax center as well as to enjoy May Day Meringues.
