SPIRIT OF THE PRIMEVAL FORREST - series of exhibitions prepared for this year's season in Egon Schiele Art Centrum.
Gallery visitors will literally be swamped by the jungle with its sounds and smells, experience a bustling South American street and bar and be awed by the sources of artistic inspiration.
Egon Schiele Art Centre halls will be filled by forests of different continents depicted by these artists:
JAROSLAV HNĚVKOVSKÝ (1884-1956) - PICTURES FROM THE JUNGLE - pictures and drawings
This painter decided to travel to India in 1909 an discover a landscape populated by penniless people, living spontaneously off the land's bounties. He chose to settle there and make a living by hunting.
OTTO PLACHT (b. 1962) - PARALLEL WORLDS - pictures, drawings
A Czech painter who had been living in an indigenous Indian community in Peru for many years and started a family there. Although no longer residing in Peru permanently, he keeps returning there and paints large-scale paintings depicting the beauty as well as the drastic modern colonization of rainforests.
DIMAS PAREDES ARMAS (b. 1954) - VISIONS AND DREAMS OF AYAHUASCA - pictures
Son of a medicine man from the Peruvian Pucallpa who reflects his ancestors´ knowledge, dreams and visions in his paintings.
SOURCES OF INSPIRATION FROM THE PERUVIAN AMAZON - art and items of daily use of the indigenous inhabitants such as pottery, toys, cooking utensils etc.
